Sarah E. Maston Installed as 2026–27 ASHRAE Society President
ATLANTA / AUSTIN — June 29, 2026. ASHRAE has installed its 2026–27 Society President, along with newly elected officers and directors, during the 2026 Annual Conference in Austin, Texas — the very same conference attended by the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter delegation.
Sarah E. Maston, P.E., BCxP, LEED AP will serve as the 2026–27 Society President. In her inaugural presidential address, Maston introduced the theme for the new Society Year:
The theme focuses on how the building industry can work together to develop a winning "game plan" to improve the efficiency, performance, and resilience of existing buildings in the face of growing climate and infrastructure challenges — a theme with direct relevance for Pakistan's own aging building stock and retrofit needs.
"ASHRAE has been providing leadership and guidance in energy efficiency, indoor air quality and carbon emissions reduction," said Maston. "So, where do we go from here?"
This year, ASHRAE will focus on three key areas:
- Increasing awareness of the importance of building codes, and their role in resilience
- The importance of cross-functional teams and creating a game plan to improve building operations
- Gamification of education, to continue attracting the brightest minds to tackle the dilemmas we face
The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter congratulates President Maston on her installation and looks forward to aligning chapter activities with the new Society theme in the year ahead.
ASHRAE Pakistan at the 2026 Summer Conference — Austin, Texas
The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter delegation represented Pakistan at the 2026 ASHRAE Annual Conference, held in Austin, Texas from June 27 – July 1, joining engineers, researchers, and industry leaders from across the globe for ASHRAE's flagship summer gathering.
The conference brought together the international HVAC&R community for technical sessions, standards committee meetings, product showcases, and networking — with this year's program placing strong emphasis on AI-driven building design, decarbonization pathways, and resilience in extreme-heat climates — themes directly relevant to Pakistan's own engineering challenges.
Pakistan Chapter representatives engaged directly with ASHRAE Society leadership, attended technical committee sessions, and connected with chapters from across ASHRAE's Region-at-Large network — continuing the chapter's tradition of active international participation.
This marks another milestone in the chapter's growing international presence — following recent representation in Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, and the UAE earlier this chapter year.
A Completely Reimagined Chapter Website
This chapter year, the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter undertook a complete overhaul of its digital presence — and the result is, we believe, one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date chapter websites in the ASHRAE Region-at-Large.
The redesigned ashraepakistan.com now features a structured Events Archive organized by chapter year, a searchable News & Updates section, a dedicated Technical Programs hub, a growing Technical Articles library, the original Grounded Excellence series featuring career wisdom from our senior members, and individual committee pages — starting with ECC and YEA — showcasing real work, real numbers, and real impact.

Built to Be Accessible to Everyone
As part of this redesign, select chapter pages and reports now include built-in accessibility tools — designed so that every visitor, regardless of how they read or process information, can access ASHRAE Pakistan's content comfortably. These features are being rolled out progressively across the site.
This is an ongoing effort — more pages, more accessibility features, and more sections are being added as the chapter year progresses. We're proud to be setting a new digital standard for chapter communications in the region.
ASHRAE Student Branch Inaugurated at MUET
On 16th February 2026, the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter formally inaugurated a new Student Branch at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro — marking an important milestone for student engagement in HVAC&R and building sciences in Sindh.
The installation of the new office bearers was conducted by Mr. Shuja Khalid, President of ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter, whose presence and encouragement added great value to the ceremony. Dr. Muhammad Uzair, Chair of Student Activities, highlighted the numerous benefits this platform will provide to students — technical learning opportunities, industry networking, leadership development, and exposure to international standards and best practices.
Special thanks were extended to Branch Advisor Dr. Samiullah and the Chairman of the Department, Prof. Dr. Abdul Fateh Abbasi, for their warm hospitality and continuous support in making this initiative possible.

A Year of Growth, Reach, and Record-Keeping
As Chapter Year 2025–2026 draws to a close, the ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter looks back on a year defined by international representation, digital transformation, and consistent engagement with the next generation of engineers.
From hosting HVACR Trends 5.0 to representing Pakistan in Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and now Texas — this has been one of the chapter's most internationally active years on record. Alongside this, the chapter's communications reach grew significantly, with LinkedIn followers up 69% and the chapter's digital infrastructure rebuilt from the ground up.
As the chapter transitions into a new leadership term, we extend our sincere thanks to every volunteer, committee member, and supporter who made this year possible — and we look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
