Introduction

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE 'Shapes Tomorrow’s Built Environment Today'.

The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter, formed on the 29th of March, 2003, was chartered by the then ASHRAE President, Richard Rooley. This was the first Chapter to be formed in Pakistan. The starting membership of the Chapter was fifty members. Currently, there are over 110 members, with a diverse range of membership, from Engineers, Architects, Researchers, Academics and Technicians as well as Students in a total of 7 student branches.

This is one of the more active chapters in ASHRAE Region-at-Large, and is committed to the achievement of technical quality and excellence in all its' programs, courses and other activities. The Pakistan Chapter members have served ASHRAE, both in Society and the Region At Large, in many positions including Presidential Member, DRC, RVC, SRC and ARC.

The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter holds the distinctive distinction of appointing the first President outside of North America and Europe since the organization's establishment in 1895.

The Chapter has a MOU and collaborates with The Inistitution of Engineers Pakistan, Pakistan Society of Plumbing Professionals, NED University.

The Chapter has also signed an agreement with Pakistan HVACR Society-Karachi Chapter and hosted the conference during the 2023 Expo of the PHVACR Society.

Goals

1. To promote and advance activities of HVACR engineering sciences and technology
2. To provide a central platform for members to communicate, exchange views and ideas for development of products and services of HVACR industry
3. To develop professional skill by disseminating latest and uptodate information on global changes and developments in HVACR technology
4. To maintain high professional standards and to establish and maintain code of conduct
5. To conduct workshops, conferences, seminars and exhibitions for advancement of HVACR engineering sciences and technology
6. To provide assistance to different groups of HVACR industry, to form their individual associations and to provide guidance for keeping these associations active
7. To nominate delegates for participation in national and international seminars / exhibitions / forums
