Established in 2003 as the first ASHRAE chapter in Pakistan, we are a community of engineers, researchers, architects, and industry professionals united by a commitment to advancing the built environment — sustainably, technically, and with purpose.
The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter has not just participated in history — it has made it.
The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter was formed on 29th March 2003, chartered by then-ASHRAE President Richard Rooley. It was the first ASHRAE Chapter to be formed in Pakistan, starting with a founding membership of fifty engineers and industry professionals.
Today, the chapter has grown to over 110 members representing a diverse range of disciplines — Engineers, Architects, Researchers, Academics, Technicians, and Students across 7 student branches in leading universities.
The chapter is recognized as one of the more active chapters in the ASHRAE Region-at-Large, consistently committed to technical quality and excellence. Pakistan Chapter members have served ASHRAE at the highest levels — in roles including Presidential Member, DRC, RVC, SRC, ARC, and Member ECC.
The chapter maintains active collaborations with the Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Pakistan Society of Plumbing Professionals, NED University, and Association of Consulting Engineers Pakistan.
ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability within the industry.
Through research, standards writing, publishing, and continuing education, ASHRAE "Shapes Tomorrow's Built Environment Today." Its standards — including ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, 55, and 170 — are referenced in building codes worldwide and set the benchmark for engineering excellence.
The ASHRAE Pakistan Chapter is part of the ASHRAE Region-at-Large (RAL), which encompasses chapters across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and beyond — collectively advancing the mission of ASHRAE in regions experiencing the fastest growth in building construction and energy demand.
